BASIN
READ FIRST
BASIN explores the beauty of what remains after transformation.
Hand carved from solid pine and finished using the traditional Japanese technique of wood burning, the piece celebrates texture, absence and material in their purest form.
Neither purely sculptural nor entirely functional, Basin invites everyday rituals to become moments of intention.
Description
Some objects ask to be admired, others ask to be lived with. Basin belongs to the latter.
Its surface is carved by hand before being carefully burned, allowing fire to deepen the grain and reveal a richness impossible to achieve through stain alone. The shallow hollow is not simply a place to hold objects, but a quiet reminder that emptiness can carry as much meaning as presence.
Whether left untouched or used to gather the small rituals of daily life, it encourages a slower relationship with the things we choose to keep close.
Not every object exists to be noticed.
Some exist to change the atmosphere around them.
Edition
Each Basin is individually made by hand. No two surfaces, grain patterns or burn marks can ever be identical.
The Process
Every Basin begins as a solid block of pine before being carved, refined and burned entirely by hand.
The fire reveals the natural texture of the wood rather than concealing it, creating a finish unique to every piece.
